Life through the lens
Photos taken by Miriam Kuhnke
On view in the Café Central since July 7, 2025
Miriam about her exhibition:
Taken across eight countries & territories – Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan – between 2019 and 2023, these pictures depict life in all its variations – in daylight or at night, calm or busy, in the city or close to nature, but always vibrant.
A part of these pictures was taken while I spent a semester abroad in Singapore through the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Göttingen. Thank you for that opportunity!
Taken with Panasonic DMC-GX80 LUMIX G VARIO 14-140/F3.5-5.6.

Grünstufen
Photographs by Jan Szolnoki
On view in the Cafeteria SUB since September 9, 2024
The focus of the long-term project "Grünstufen" is on the infinite colors and lighting moods of our forests. Here, even a fleeting ray of sunshine or a small cloud can instantly create a new scene around us. A recurring theme can be found in some of the photographs: the viewer should feel the urge to walk around in the picture, or to be able to let their eyes wander, like a bird flying between the trees. Most of the pictures were taken in the Göttingen forest and the surrounding area. While creating the works required a certain amount of deprivation, when looking at them, you can fully immerse yourself in the motif and effect without any effort or distraction.
