In the CGiN, the expanded and renovated North canteen, a new gastronomy concept awaits you on the North Campus - on two floors and a large south-facing terrace
Here you will find 3 pavilions for hot dishes on the upper floor and 1 café pavilion on the ground floor from Monday to Friday. There are vegetarian and vegan dishes, meat and fish dishes, stews, bowls, one-pot dishes, dishes from the teppanyaki grill, salad, desserts and of course the classic cafeteria offer.
So welcome to the new and barrier-free canteen of the Studierendenwerk, which sets new standards with a modern ambience, 1,050 seats and 5,500 square meters of usable space!

CGiN offers a distribution pavilion on the ground floor, the Daily. Here, from 09:00 a.m., the classic offer of a cafeteria beckons. In addition, there will be hot dishes such as pizza and dishes from the teppanyaki grill from 11:15 a.m. onwards.
On the upper floor, the heart of the cafeteria, there are three distribution pavilions. Their offers change weekly. There are up to ten different dishes every day.
At each distribution area, you can take your dish, side dishes and desserts from both sides and then pay directly and cashless at a self-scan checkout.

FAQ New gastronomic concept CGiN
What does "energy-intensive" mean in CGiN?
The new canteen on the North Campus achieves a climate-friendly energy-saving standard according to KfW 40 despite the most energy-intensive processes in cooking, dishwashing and cooling.
What are the entrances to the building?
There are entrances from the south (barrier-free entrance on the ground floor via the outdoor terrace, at the front of the building) as well as one staircase each to the west and east. The building is accessible and has an elevator.
What can I get there?
The new dispensing system at pavilions enables individuality in the composition of personal food. At a gazebo, you can find everything in one place, from the main component to side dishes to salads and desserts. In detail, there are . In detail there are:

Why only cashless payment and self-scanning checkout?
Cashless payment by student ID, employee ID, EC card, credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay applies without exception. There are 6 top-up locations for student or employee IDs: 4 on the ground floor and 2 on the upper floor. Payment is made at self-scan checkouts; the only exception is the Café Daily on the ground floor. You can find the complete price list for students, staff and guests above.
What new seating areas and room concepts are there?
Individual seating areas and completely new room concepts transform the CGiN into a place of encounter:
The "Freiraum" on the ground floor is an open-plan area for eating, working and being together.
In the "living room" on the ground floor, you can expect an inviting, cozy atmosphere in a classic living room look.
Learning boxes on the ground floor are ideal for groups of four to six people, they are equipped with charging stations for laptops, mobile phones or tablets.
In the "beer garden" and the "dining room" upstairs there is plenty of space to sit, to meet and eat.
The separate rooms "Places" are located on the upper floor; you can have lunch here and in the future the faculties of the northern area can offer seminars here at other times.
You can find the parents' café and the dog café on the ground floor, near the entrance via the east staircase.
The partially covered outdoor area, facing south, offers benches, bar tables and umbrellas and a wide view of the countryside, far away from road traffic.
Where can I get general information in the CGiN?

Where can I park my bike?
For bicycles, there are areas equipped with comfortable bike racks on three sides of the CGiN site, allowing for easy chaining of the bike frame.
Is there WLAN in the canteen?
Yes. Secure Wi-Fi with comfortable bandwidth and also Eduroam is available in all interior seating areas.
What is the last-minute offer and when and where is it available?
At 2.00 pm it is sold for last-minute, until nothing is left.
Opened and equipped since mid-July 2025: Parent café and dog café
Our parents' café is intended for guests who have their offspring with them. There are plenty of seating areas, storage options for strollers, etc., and a play area.
The dog café invites dog owners who do not want to sit on the outdoor terrace with their sociable four-legged friends. At the entrance of the dog café, there is a notice with rules for this area. Dogs are only allowed in CGiN on the outdoor terrace, on the short path from the east entrance to the dog café, and in the dog café itself. To reach the dog café, take the direct route through the east entrance (east staircase). Into the café, dogs must be supervised and kept on a leash at all times. Water for the dog can be brought along.
